VEIL

44’

A documentary by Irene Felici

Veil is the story of a woman. A woman who has chosen to be a cloistered nun. The approach to a choice, the religious one, imposes “conventions” and“rules” of life in a time, like today, where the physical and inner appearance seems to be the basis of everyday life, an appearance also regulated by the unrestrained use of new media. The photographic medium will then be exploited to represent a figure - female in this case - different. However, the point of arrival will not be the analysis of the religious theme. This will be used only as a means, objective testimony, and instrument of the story. The goal is to understand how a person can find freedom even in choosing a certain way of life; for these women, it is a life free from preconceptions, conditioning, and daily space-time coordinates; it is a life made of essentiality. Therefore, it is a life of the cloister, consisting only apparently of rules and renunciations.
